Introducing GoodOnes: liberating memories from cluttered camera rolls
Like so many parents, having children turned my phone into a blackhole of thousands of photos. Capturing your children’s special and everyday moments should be a positive experience — but it can quickly become overwhelming and impossible to navigate.
As a product and engineering leader from Google and Dropbox, I was surprised a solution hadn’t yet been developed. The industry to date has been focused on cloud storage, yet we knew there was a better way. My cofounder, Aparna Pande, had recently experienced a successful exit with her first startup, Kidstir. She’d also spent the years prior with Disney, Parents and Mattel. It was honestly prime time for us to bring together our expertise to build a solution. Soon after, GoodOnes was born.
Using a combination of human intelligence and artificial intelligence, GoodOnes helps people curate good photos from their cluttered camera rolls. While anyone can use it — parents are especially excited about what we’re building, as are foodies, travelers, and creators.
At the core of GoodOnes is our personal photo assistant Ollie, powered by machine learning, which sifts out the bad photos and shows recommendations for your good ones. From there, it’s up to you to choose by swiping right and left. The more you use the app, the better job it’ll do at curating, selecting, and weeding through photos. The app is fun to use and celebrates your progress, which encourages people to sift through photos while waiting in line, on the bus, or whenever there’s a minute to kill. Once narrowed down, it’s fun to figure out what to actually do with your goodones! You may create a photobook, share with friends, or simply browse through the cute things your kids did last week.
With $3.5M in funding to support growth, GoodOnes is ready to come out of stealth
Today we’re thrilled to announce $3.5M in seed funding led by TLV Partners with participation from Liquid2 Ventures (Joe Montana’s fund), as well as Rich Miner (co-founder of Android), and Peter Welinder (founder of Carousel, sold to Dropbox), as well as many more seasoned operators and funders. With the funding, we’ll expand our engineering team so that our product can become more robust, easy to use, and intelligent.
